Set Your Preferred Language for Audio, Titles, and Descriptions
Content with original audio in one of your preferred languages will not be translated. This setting applies to translations of audio (dubs), titles, and descriptions. You can adjust preferences on the web or in the YouTube app.
On Computer
- Click your profile picture.
- Select Settings.
- Click Playback & Performance.
- Under Language, click Add or edit languages.
- Select the languages you prefer.
- Click Confirm.
On Phone
- Tap your profile picture.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Languages.
- Tap Preferred languages.
- Select the languages you prefer.
- Tap Confirm.
Change the Audio Language of a Specific Video
- Open the video you want to watch.
- In the video player, select Settings.
- Choose Audio track.
- Select your preferred language.
Important Notes
- Your preferred language setting is separate from app language and location settings.
- It does not affect search results or video recommendations.
- If a video has translated titles and descriptions, you can search using those translations.
