How To Set Preferred Languages on YouTube (Audio, Titles & Descriptions)

YouTube allows you to choose your preferred languages for audio, titles, and descriptions. This guide explains how to configure these settings on both computer and mobile devices.

Set Your Preferred Language for Audio, Titles, and Descriptions

Content with original audio in one of your preferred languages will not be translated. This setting applies to translations of audio (dubs), titles, and descriptions. You can adjust preferences on the web or in the YouTube app.

On Computer

• Click your profile picture.
• Select Settings.
• Click Playback & Performance.
• Under Language, click Add or edit languages.
• Select the languages you prefer.
• Click Confirm.

On Phone

• Tap your profile picture.
• Select Settings.
• Tap Languages.
• Tap Preferred languages.
• Select the languages you prefer.
• Tap Confirm.

Change the Audio Language of a Specific Video

• Open the video you want to watch.
• In the video player, select Settings.
