Creating a bootable USB drive with Ventoy is a reliable way to manage multiple operating system ISOs. This guide explains the process step by step to ensure clarity and ease of use.
Follow these instructions carefully to avoid data loss and achieve a fully functional Ventoy USB drive.
Important Note
This process will completely format your USB drive. Back up any important files before you begin.
Download the Ventoy Package
Go to the official Ventoy GitHub release page or website and download the Windows file.
Extract the Files
Right-click the downloaded folder and select Extract All.... Choose a destination folder and extract it.
Run Ventoy2Disk
Plug your USB drive into your computer. Open the extracted folder and double-click Ventoy2Disk.exe. If Windows SmartScreen or UAC prompts you for permission, click Yes.
Select Your Drive and Install
In the Ventoy interface, check the Device dropdown at the top and ensure your target USB drive is selected. Configure the installation if needed and click the Install button. Confirm the data-loss warning prompts to finish the process.
Note: You can also update or clear (Uninstall) the Ventoy version already installed on your USB drive from within the app by clicking the Update or Clear button.
Copy Your ISO Files
Once installation finishes, a new drive letter named Ventoy will appear in File Explorer. Copy and paste or drag and drop your operating system ISO files (Windows, Linux, etc.) directly onto this drive.
How to Use It
Restart your computer and access your BIOS/UEFI boot menu (usually by pressing F12, F11, F9, F8, or Esc during startup). Select your Ventoy USB drive.
Instead of booting directly into a single operating system, you will see a clean menu listing every ISO file you added. Use the arrow keys to select the one you want to launch.
By following these steps, you can easily create a versatile Ventoy USB drive for multiple operating systems. This method ensures flexibility and efficiency in managing bootable media.
Ventoy simplifies the process of handling ISO files, making it a practical solution for both beginners and advanced users.
