Creating a bootable USB drive usually requires a computer, but if your PC is unavailable or has crashed, you can still build a rescue drive directly from your Android phone. This guide explains how to use the Ventoy (Unofficial) app for Android to achieve this.
Follow the steps carefully, as the process will format your USB drive and erase all existing data.

Requirements
- Android Phone: No root access required.
- USB Drive: At least 8–16 GB of space.
- OTG Adapter: USB-C to USB-A (male to female) adapter to connect the drive to your phone.
- The App: Ventoy (Unofficial) by MixApplications, available on Google Play Store.
- ISO Files: Operating system setup images (Windows, Linux, etc.) downloaded to your phone’s storage.
Connect the Hardware
Plug your USB drive into the OTG adapter, then connect it to your phone. If it is not detected, go to your phone’s settings, search for OTG, and toggle it ON.
Configure Ventoy (Unofficial)
Open the Ventoy app. It should detect your USB drive automatically. Choose your partition style:
- GPT: Best for modern computers (UEFI).
- MBR: Best for older computers (Legacy BIOS).
Adjust installation settings if needed.
Install Ventoy
The free version of the app uses a coin system powered by ads, while the Pro version removes this limitation. Installing Ventoy requires 2 coins. Copying ISO files or downloading ISOs directly to the USB is free.
Tap the Install button. Keep the app open while it formats the drive and installs the Ventoy bootloader.
Note: You can also update or uninstall Ventoy from the app using the Update or Clear buttons.
Copy Your ISO Files
After installation, Ventoy splits your USB drive into two partitions. Use the app’s file manager or your phone’s system file manager to copy ISO files directly onto the main partition.
How to Use It
Once the files are copied, safely eject the USB drive from your phone. Plug it into the target PC, power it on, and press the boot menu key (F12, F11, F9, F8, or Esc). Select your USB drive.
Ventoy will display a menu listing all ISO files you added. Use the arrow keys to select the one you want to run.
Note: If you have a USB-C phone and a USB-C flash drive, you can connect directly without an OTG adapter. Ensure the OTG Connection toggle is enabled in your phone’s settings.
