Part 1: Which Version Do You Need?
Microsoft maintains two distinct platforms: the older .NET Framework and the newer .NET. To determine which one is required, check the error message displayed by your game or application, or review its system requirements:
- Choose .NET Framework: If the app was released before 2020 and specifically requests .NET Framework (commonly versions 3.5, 4.8, or 4.8.1).
- Choose .NET: If the app is newer and asks for .NET, .NET 10, .NET Runtime (without the word Framework), or other modern versions.

Option A: .NET Framework (Versions 3.5, 4.8.1, etc.)
