The Windows.old folder can take up a large amount of disk space after a system upgrade. This guide explains what it is, why it exists, and how to safely remove it.
What is the Windows.old Folder?
When you upgrade Windows, the system creates a Windows.old folder to store your previous installation. This acts as a backup in case you want to roll back to the earlier version. If you are certain you no longer need it, deleting the folder can free up tens of gigabytes of storage.
Important: Once deleted, you cannot revert to your old Windows version.
