With the April 30, 2026 Preview Update (KB5083631 / OS Build 26200.8328), Microsoft rebranded the Drag Tray to the Drop Tray. This update streamlines the interface and places the toggle in a more intuitive location. Here’s how to manage it.
Steps to Configure the Drop Tray
- Open Settings: Press Windows Key + I to launch the Settings app.
- Navigate to Multitasking: Select System from the left sidebar, then choose Multitasking.
- Configure the Drop Tray: Scroll down to the Drop Tray section:
- Enable: Toggle the switch to On. This allows you to drag files to the top of the screen to trigger the sharing tray.
- Disable: Toggle the switch to Off.
Important Notes
- If the Drop Tray option is not visible, ensure your system is updated to the required build number via Windows Update.
- This feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available on all devices or in all regions immediately.
Managing the Drop Here to Share Tray in Windows 11 gives you greater control over how files are shared across your system. By enabling or disabling it, you can tailor the multitasking experience to your workflow needs.
